Siena

Siena is to medieval Italy what Florence is to Renaissance Italy - perfection in stone and brick.  We spent several hours in the winding narrow streets of this Tuscan hill town, climbing to the top of the city hall tower, and wandering through what Rens calls the most beautiful cathedral in Europe - the Siena Duomo.

The Torre del Mangia in Siena's campo.  Despite being tacked onto the already standing city hall without any additional reinforcements or foundation work, it hasn't collapsed.

The never ending stair case.  Described by one parent as "like being in a nightmare".

awwwww....

Close your mouth weirdo.

Braving the top of the tower and enjoying the view of the Tuscan countryside.

The optical illusion dome of the Siena Duomo.  It's actually smooth - the "panels" are just paint.

Admiring the cathedral.

Kas and Maggie again.

One of Bernini's "moving" statues.  Just like at Disneyland.

The floor of the cathedral is also nice.  So they look down.

The fully painted library of the duomo.

It's nice.
